It adds that Office 2021 for consumers will have similar additions. In other words, you make a one-time purchase vs. Office 2019 is a one-time purchase that comes with classic apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for PC or Mac, and does not include any of the services that come with a Microsoft 365 subscription. The Verge points out that Office LTSC will include things like dark mode support, accessibility improvements, and other features. First things first: you buy Office 2019, and you subscribe to Office 365.

With Microsoft 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including iPad and Android tablet) and phones. Microsoft 365 plans include premium versions of these apps plus other services enabled over the internet, including 1 TB of cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. We don't know the features and changes that will arrive with Office 2021, so we'll have to wait for more details from Microsoft. Office 2019 includes apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
